Hi all
by SailAway ini have decided to join this forum after quite a long time lurking here (a number of years actually).. i have been out of the truth for a while and recently started to attend some meetings.
but i now think a bit more freely and wonder whether i am doing the right thing.
a cousin of mine regularly posts on here, didgeridoo in fact i have seen him today, speaking to him has made me decide to finally post on here, although i have my reservations whether i am doing the right thing.

Hello SailAway,
Welcome to the forum.
My only advice for you: don't take anything anyone says for granted. If something doesn't sit right with you, research it using WT material and scholarly material, and even sites like this if you so wish. Personally I have found using scholarly commentaries on books in the bible, particularly Daniel and Revelation which the Watchtower Society like to use to "prove" themselves and to inject fear and a sense of urgency into people, to be extremely educational.
All the best. -

" My was baptism not valid"?then fade?
by wobble inthis is prompted by a recent thread about the change in baptism vows in 1985,my question is if someone wishes to fade, would a good method be to say "i feel my baptism was not valid and so i'm thinking of getting re-baptised, and then fade, would this not take away all "jurisdiction" by the congo.
as you do not recognise youself as a "jehovah's witness" ?
would it not then be impossible to d'f' or d'a' you?

They'd shun you as per usual I guess.

JW's stole a song from Queen / Freddie Mercury
by Gopher ini used to be the piano player at the kingdom hall (before they made the halls play tapes/cd's).
i had no idea that whenever i played song 72, i was doing a song by queen.
queen's song "lazing on a sunday afternoon" was on their 4th album "night at the opera", the same album that had "bohemian rhapsody".

Gopher! You've made my day!
:D
There's another link to Queen in the Kindgom Melodies. I can't remember all the words, but I think thunder and lightning are mentioned, and I used to sing "very very frightening!" afterwards. -

This crossed my mind yesterday as well. I don't suppose it would stop the machine doing what it wants with you anyway, but it could certainly make relatives still in, or the odd elder, think.

The Revelation book?
by Layla33 ini just came back from a weekend visit with my parents and i noticed this book all over - it gave me a bad feeling for some reason.
now, i only came after the book study was over since they have it at their house, so that's another reason why it was probably left out.
however, i consider this apocalyptic cult a concern and one of the reason i scan on here from time to time is to keep to date on what is going on.

I think the trumpet blasts are district conventions. Truly monumental events, huh?

Jehovah's Witnesses & Baptism

On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization?

Did anyone get told that they 'think about things too much'?
by jambon1 inin the very early days of my explaining to certain witnesses my doubts, i kind of ran through all of them.
they probobly merged into one big hodge-podge of apostate doubting nonsense.
- the nephilim penis size, the animals in the ark, the she bears killing the kids, davids baby being killed by god for his adultery, jesus sacrifice not really being a sacrifice, the torture of jw's in the camps, appointment of elders, the changing doctrines.........but more than a few elders/rank & file witnesses told me that i "think about stuff too much".

One of my friends who left the group before I did got told they thought too much.
When you make thinking a crime, you can condemn anything. :(
